First Responders Rush to Joppatowne High School; Campus Evacuated.


A fight involving a weapon on Friday afternoon led to the evacuation of Joppatowne High School, 11 News has learned. Authorities responded to the school around 12:45 p.m. with a heavy presence of sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and paramedics. Although the Harford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there is no ongoing active situation, they are actively investigating the incident.


According to a statement sent to families, the fight involved known parties, and a weapon was brought onto campus and used during the altercation. While the type of weapon and extent of any injuries remain unspecified, ambulances were seen leaving the school, and a Maryland State Police helicopter was dispatched to the scene.


A reunification center for parents to pick up their children has been established at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. SkyTeam 11 video also captured authorities taking a person into custody off-campus, but further details have not yet been released.
